My job is to educate students to become independent musicians who can participate musically with other people outside of my classroom - throughout the world. Students will be able to read, analyze and perform music on their instruments in various styles. My students should have the ability to appreciate all forms of music and to engage in meaningful stimulating conversations about music, either as audience members or participants. I'd like all of my students to aspire towards higher education, not necessarily as musicians, but as informed critical thinking individuals.
CONGRATULATIONS 2010 HONOR ORCHESTRA MUSICIANS! On May 2, 2010, thirteen students represented Gage MS and were part of LAUSD's Middle School Honor String Orchestra. They performed at the Nokia Theater in downtown L.A. These students comprised 10% of the entire orchestra. CONGRATULATIONS SENIOR ORCHESTRA 2010!! On May 15, 2010, Senior Orchestra took 1st Place and Best in Division Awards for Music in the Parks at Magic Mountain! Way to go! CONGRATULATIONS Per. 1 Senior Orchestra! On June 4, 2010 at Panorama High School, the Senior Orchestra took 2 Excellent and 1 Superior Rating in the LAUSD Music Festivals. Crunching the judge's numbers, overall score was SUPERIOR!!
