Mr. David Billett
Media Arts

Description:

Media Arts will introduce you to the writing, filming and editing of video, audio and graphic projects. You will work in crews to produce a variety of projects to learn aspects of using cameras, writing scripts and storyboarding and computer based non-linear editing. You will produce short commercials, documentaries, news segments, "how-to" videos and public service announcements for this class and other teachers on campus.

By becoming media producers, you will become better media consumers. You will learn how to deliver clear messages in a variety of media.

Your Responsibilities:
Your are responsible for your own learning! You should never ask "What do I do now?" You will always have a project to work on in this class. How will you know what to work on? You can use the resources on this web site, and you will also get email reminding you of your projects and their due dates. Others may be working on different projects, but ultimately you are responsible for your own work. If you need help you can always ask your classmates, or me (Mr. Billett). You can also email me with questions or comments.

Remember acceptable internet use! Games are never appropriate in class. You are at school to study and work. If you go to a game site, you are telling me that you are not responsible enough to use the internet or even a computer. As always, think before you act.

Passwords and user names are also your responsibility. Write them down in your notebook and agenda, and somewhere at home.

Rules:

  • Respect the teacher, classroom, each other and the equipment
  • Ask for help if you need it.
  • Raise your hand to speak during lectures and discussions
  • No drinks, food, gum or cosmetics
  • Keep sound levels low
  • Use equipment with clean hands - wash them before class!
  • Do not goof off, 'play' or waste time.
  • Don't abuse your privileges or you will lose them!
  • If you take it, put it back!

Equipment time out for two days; write essay "How I Can Get My Equipment Privileges Back"
Notice of Unsatisfactory Performance sent home; "U" in Cooperation and/or Work Habits

Your grade will be based on: Timely completion of assignments
