The Soccer World Cup 2010 will be held in South Africa and will begin on June 11th at 6:30 am with the opening game between South Africa and Mexico. To capitalize on this and promote school spirit, we will broadcast the game in the MPR.Only 100 students per track will be allowed to participate; tickets will be provided to students.
Soccer is very popular in Huntington Park and this is a wonderful opportunity to engage students.I am requesting every faculty and staff member to nominate one student, see guidelines below.Students will also be encouraged to complete the self nomination form on this page. The deadline for self-nomination form online is Friday, April 23rd)More information about self-nomination process online is attached.
Guidelines for faculty/ staff nominations:
Academics-Student consistently earned high grades or demonstrated great improvement.
Attendance-Student had perfect attendance or demonstrated great improvement.
Behavior-Student demonstrated exemplary behavior or demonstrated great improvement.
Citizenship-Student earned all E’s on latest marking period or demonstrated great improvement.
Service-Student volunteered personal time to assist or participated in a service to school class
Other-Faculty/ staff member discretion.
A small group of staff members will assess self-nomination extended constructed responses retrieved from the online form. The assessments will be administered against a rubric based on how thoughtfully and skillfully the students answer the following question: ‘How will you demonstrate improvement in the areas of academics, attendance, behavior, etc?’ Points will be allocated, and a list of top five students will be sent to teachers. Faculty/staff has discretion to select final designee from list.
Only one entry per student will be counted. The Challenge question is in two parts:
